Preparing for your baby doesn’t mean you have to skip throwing a holiday party. Beautiful gatherings don’t have to be expensive or overly difficult to arrange. Your holiday party can be as glowing as you are, with these five simple tricks:

Invitations:
Ditch costly snail mail invitations for electronic invitations. They allow you to send your guests invitations as well as RSVP. Websites like PunchbowlEvite, and Sendomatic will even let you create them for free!

Decor:
Holiday party decor doesn’t need to be extravagant. Keep it simple and elegant by grouping pillar candles of different sizes and placing festive ornaments, pinecones, and tree sprigs into glass bowls.

Food:
This is easily the largest expense. Cut costs by having a potluck. Some may say that it isn’t as elegant as a prepared meal but don’t believe the hype. Have a list of what everyone is bringing so that you have enough of each category (appetizers, proteins, sides, dessert).

Serving:
Visit your nearest dollar store for festive platters and serving dishes. Also, contrary to popular belief, it is more cost effective to use real plates and cutlery instead of paper and plastic. You can use your own or find some at the dollar store as well. Just make sure you have someone to help you clean up after.

Drinks:
Although you are pregnant, and thus avoiding alcohol, most of your guests probably are not. Instead of an expensive open bar, offer a festive signature cocktail (and make you can have your own mocktail!), along with a cider or a punch.
These are really all you need to throw a wonderful holiday party. Just add you favorite people and enjoy!
