Becoming pregnant after a miscarriage brings on a whole new set of joys and challenges. Some may not realize how different of a pregnancy experience it is. If you’re pregnant and have had a miscarriage, here’s what you can expect and how to get through it.
As you may have guessed, you will experience a whole range of emotions. You may feel both joy and sadness, anxiety and excitement.
You might have a hard time bonding with your new baby. Trying to shield yourself from pain is natural.
Depending on the details of your miscarriage, you will have to make some extra visits to your doctor. These visits may become less scary once you pass the point in your pregnancy where you miscarried before.
Whether it’s your friends and family or a group of women who are going through the same thing, it’s best to have somewhere to turn. Make sure you have people that you can talk about what you’re feeling.
Make sure that you are taking care of your body as best as you can. Take your prenatals, exercise (with doctor's approval) and eat a healthy, balanced diet.
Stay in touch with your doctor for help. There may be extra tests and monitoring they can provide you to give you peace of mind.
The hardest part of being pregnant after a miscarriage, is knowing that there is only so much you can do. To deal with this, do everything you can do to relax. It may be a good time to take up meditation or prenatal yoga. The more you can relax, the more you will be able to enjoy this pregnancy.
